Is this really free?
Yes. There is no paid tier, no hidden charge and no payment screen. After you download your form we show a few optional recommendations for things new arrivals usually need next, such as health insurance or a bank account. If you use one of those links we may earn a commission — that is what keeps meldform free. You are never required to click them.
What happens to my data?
Your answers are sent over an encrypted connection to our server, used to generate your PDF, and then discarded. Nothing is written to a database and there is no account holding your details. Our analytics are cookieless and do not follow you across other sites. Full details are on our Datenschutz page.
Which German states are supported?
All 16. Most states accept the standard federal registration form, and we use dedicated templates for Berlin and Bayern because their forms differ. You choose your state at the start and we generate the right one for you.
Do I need to print the form?
Yes. In Germany the registration form has to be signed by hand, so a digital file on its own is not enough. Download the filled-in PDF, print it, sign it, and bring it to your Bürgeramt appointment along with your passport and your Wohnungsgeberbestätigung.
